Michael Barnaart van Bergen C'EST BRILLANTDe collectie die zondag tijdens C’est Brillant geshowd wordt is gebaseerd op mijn fascinatie voor de vergankelijkheid van mode. De collectie verwijst naar mijn korte film uit 2006, Artificial Cecilia Artificial Cecilia gaat over de grens tussen natuur en wetenschap. Technologie moet zich aanpassen aan een natuurlijke omgeving door een natuurlijk uiterlijk aan te nemen. Deze nieuwe levensvorm is niet te onderscheiden van natuur of technologie. De enige manier om hier achter te komen is door het te doden. Natuur gaat dood. Technologie kan worden herstart. “I instinct so I existed”. Elementen uit deze korte film heb ik vertaald in een poëtische collectie. De vluchtigheid een modebeeld, kwetsbaarheid van materialen en de verkorte levensloop van de garderobe als gevolg van massaconsumptie heeft zich vertaald in een papieren collectie. Deze collectie bestaat uit 8 sets. Elk kledingstuk is van wit papier gemaakt, waardoor het een kwetsbare en vergankelijke collectie is geworden. This collection refers to my short movie (2006), Artificial Cecilia Artificial Cecilia is about the boundaries between science and nature. Technology has to adapt themselves to their natural environment by taking over the natural look. It can be a new way of life. Neither technology neither natural looking. The only way to decide if a creature is really natural or made by technology is by killing it. A natural will die. Technology can be restarted. “I extinct so I existed”. I’ve translated elements from this short movie to a poetic collection. The perishableness of fashion, vulnerability of fabrics and the shorten life of a wardrobe as a result of massconsumption has lead to a collection made out of paper. This collection embraces 8 sets.
